Pause and go
Coming to the end of my half marathon training and realising that although I haven’t smashed eeeevery session, I’ve loved having the focus and the goal to work towards in the diary. My training hasn’t been perfect, I’ve missed some crucial sessions because, life. I’ve listened when my body needed rest, and looked after it with my trusty combo of yoga and swimming (more to come). I’ve taken a pause when I felt I needed one and also pushed when I felt I could, and it won’t be my fastest race, but I hope the sweetest!
This distance is so special to me, from running my first in Bath to my fifth now in my home city of London feels GOOD. The Royal Parks Half is a route I’ve never trained on, so it’s all new and exciting and the courage I get from taking on challenges helps me to be brave in so many other areas of my life.
It’s a joy and a privilege to be able to move my body, a blessing that I have a schedule I can fit training into, and support from my loved ones that push me forward when I don’t believe in myself.
Running, I bloody love you. Yoga, you’re more essential than ever. Swimming, see you very soon.
